Una historia de amor perruno / Canine love story

A few months ago, there is a greyhound dog race walking around the resort. It's big, sleek, elusive and very intelligent, as evidenced by the time it takes to survive on their own. At least for a while has slept in the bushes in the middle of the golf course.

Security guards have caught a couple of times and even led him outside the resort (the other alternative is to take him to the municipal kennel in Murcia), but the dog always returns to his beloved house in Riquelme.

One night of this summer met with Loba, a German shepherd-Labrador who was sleeping on the terrace of a bass, and after several days of visits, they remained unprotected, and she became pregnant. On October 11, gave birth five beautiful puppies (who say they were just born with the great they were!). They look a lot like the father, although they have some maternal traits.

See Loba to feed and care for their children is touching. She only leave her house to eat and relieve herselves, and when she ends, she goes quickly to bring warmth to their children.

The problem is what the house of Loba is small, and when the young puppies grow there will not be room for everyone, so their owners are forced to give them up for adoption (with the permission of Loba).

Desde hace meses se ve pasear por el resort un perro abandonado de raza galgo. Es grande, estilizado, huidizo y muy inteligente, como demuestra el tiempo que lleva sobreviviendo por sus propios medios. Al menos durante una temporada ha dormido en unos arbustos en medio del campo de golf.

Los guardias de seguridad le han capturado en un par de ocasiones y hasta le han llevado fuera del resort (la otra alternativa era llevarlo hasta la perrera municipal en Murcia) pero el perrito siempre vuelve a su querida casa de Riquelme.

Una noche de este verano se encontró con Loba, una pastora alemana-labradora que estaba durmiendo en la terraza de un bajo, y tras varios días de visitas, al final mantuvieron relaciones sin protección, y se quedó embarazada. El 11 de octubre dio a luz 5 hermosos cachorros (quién diría que eran recién nacidos con lo grandes que eran!). Se parecen más al padre que a la madre, aunque tienen algunos rasgos maternos.

Ver a Loba amamantar y cuidar a sus hijos es enternecedor.  Solo sale de su chalet para alimentarse y hacer sus necesidades, y en cuanto termina vuelve con rapidez a dar calor a sus pequeños.

El problema es qué el chalet de Loba está hecho a su medida, y cuando los pequeños crezcan no habrá sitio para todos, así que sus dueños se ven obligados a darlos en adopción (eso sí, con el permiso de Loba).

The successful restoration of the old Hacienda, the affluence of golf players and visitors coming for 12th October long-weekend, and the good weather, have let us find the resort absolutely beautiful. We attach some pictures.

There have been storms (of several kinds). The rain has helped the lawns and trees to be in better shape than ever before. The other kind of storms is focused on some resignations. La acertada restauración de la antigua Hacienda, los numerosos jugadores de golf y visitantes que han venido en el puente del 12 de octubre, y el clima, nos han permitido encontrar el resort precioso. Adjuntamos varias fotos.

Ha habido tormentas (de varios tipos). Las de lluvia han ayudado a que las zonas verdes estén en mejor estado que nunca. Las otras han estado centradas en algunas dimisiones. El antiguo palomar ahora reconvertido en bar y desde el que se disfrutan bonitas vistas sobre el lago grande (2 Ha) y la antigua Hacienda / The old dovecoat now rehabilitated as a bar. You can enjoy there beautiful sigths over the big lake (2 Ha) and the old Hacienda.

Google Earth, Hacienda Riquelme y el AVE / Google Earth, Hacienda Riquelme and the AVE

Several months ago, in the posts Hacienda Riquelme views in Google Earth and SIGPAC (April 9, 2010) and Cartomur, cartography of the Región de Murcia (May 14, 2010) we talked about websites like SIGPAC or Cartomur including more complete and updated information about the Región de Murcia than that available in Google Earth.

We have found another specific tool on Murcia. Its name is Sitmurcia.  It is a Territorial Information System (TIS) that includes many selectable information layers. Page loading is not too fast but it is worth waiting due to the amount and variety of data that can be found.

Merely by way of an example, you can see in the picture, coloured in pink and close to Hacienda Riquelme, the corridor reserved for the future construction of the Murcia-Cartagena section of the AVE (Spanish High Speed Railway) although it is years away and we do not know if there are other alternative corridors.

Hace meses, en la entradas Vistas de Hacienda Riquelme en Google Earth y SIGPAC (9 abril 2010) y Cartomur, cartografía de la Región de Murcia (14 mayo 2010) comentamos que existían webs como SIGPAC o Cartomur que contenían información más completa y actualizada de la Región de Murcia que la disponible en Google Earth.

Hemos encontrado otra herramienta también específica de Murcia. Se trata de Sitmurcia.  Es un Sistema de Información Territorial (SIT) con multitud de capas de información seleccionables. La carga de las páginas no es demasiado rápida pero el tiempo de espera vale la pena por la cantidad de datos que se pueden encontrar.

A modo de ejemplo, en la figura adjunta aparece en color rosa y bastante cerca de Hacienda Riquelme el pasillo reservado para el paso del futuro tramo Murcia-Cartagena del AVE. Aunque para esto faltan años y no sabemos si hay otros pasillos alternativos.

6 months have gone through since Hacienda Riquelme Blog started. We hope you found useful information in some of the 90 posts uploaded so far. We try to keep a consistent line and differentiated from other sites by dealing with topics which they do not speak about. If you want to look for older posts, our Blog post index can help you.

During these 6 months, 1604 unique visitors have visited the blog 4414 times. The total number of page views stands at 12128.

These visits were made from the countries summarized in the bottom table. It collects only aggregated data and does not reflect details such as that in July and August there were many more visitors from the United Kingdom than from Spain.

Se han cumplido 6 meses desde el arranque de Hacienda Riquelme Blog. Esperamos que haya encontrado información útil en alguna de las 90 entradas publicadas hasta la fecha. Intentamos mantener una línea coherente y diferenciada respecto a otros sitos, tratando temas de los que ellos no hablan. En estos 6 meses, 1604 visitantes únicos han realizado 4414 visitas y visto 12128 páginas.

El origen de estas visitas por países se resume en la siguiente tabla. Recoge sólo datos totales y no refleja detalles como que en julio y agosto hubo bastantes más visitas desde Reino Unido que desde España.

Tras leer la historia del Casón de Riquelme en el panel que Polaris colocó junto a la antigua Hacienda, hemos estado indagando y traemos una versión ampliada. Puede encontrarla en la nueva página de este blog Historia de Hacienda Riquelme.
El texto incluye unas notas biográficas que ilustran la endogamia de los grandes linajes, lo que permitió la acumulación de títulos nobiliarios en un reducido número de familias emparentadas entre si.

The text includes biographical notes illustrating the inbreeding of the major lineages, allowing accumulation of nobility titles by a small number of families related to each other.

Aves en Hacienda Riquelme (2) / Birds in Hacienda Riquelme (2)

Months ago, a list of birds seen or heard in Hacienda Riquelme was included in the page of this blog Nature and bird watching. We believe that this is valuable information, patiently gathered by our neighbour John Girdley through field observations.

John has updated the list with some new birds. The number of identified species is 67. The new ones are in red. Visit the page and click on the list of birds to enlarge.

En la página de este blog Naturaleza y observación de aves incluimos hace meses una lista de las aves vistas u oídas en Hacienda Riquelme. Creemos que es una información valiosa, pacientemente recopilada a partir de observaciones de campo por nuestro vecino John Girdley.

El parque de Paramount y los ‘bancos de Polaris’ / The Paramount Park and the ‘banks of Polaris’

During the past few days many articles speculating on the future location of the Paramount thematic park in the Region of Murcia have been published in the press, mainly by the Vocento group (ABC, La Verdad). Specifically, on 16 September La Verdad said:

"One of the leading roles belongs to a group of banks and savings banks that now owns the land that Polaris World had in Alhama de Murcia (nine million square meters). These institutions (Caja Mediterráneo, Bancaja, Banco de Valencia, Banco Popular and Cajamurcia), integrated in the IRM group (Inversiones Resort Mediterráneo) could become part of the group of investors responsible for developing the Paramount park, so that their role is not limited only to selling the land. Project developers would thus kill two birds with one stone: part of the investors they are looking would at the same time provide the land.

Although IRM is best placed in the starting line, the regional government stated yesterday that nothing has been decided and other sites are under consideration, such as Cartagena-Murcia-axis, near the future airport. He does not deny, however, that Alhama offers some advantages, such as the fact that the land is available and that there would be no need to negotiate with a multitude of owners. It says the holding company has yet to be established and the representatives of Paramount will have the final word."

Durante los últimos días se han venido publicando en la prensa, sobre todo del grupo Vocento (ABC, La Verdad), numerosos artículos especulando sobre la futura ubicación del parque temático de Paramount en la Región de Murcia. Precisamente en La Verdad el pasado 16 de septiembre se decía:

"Uno de los papeles protagonistas lo tiene el grupo de bancos y cajas de ahorros que se quedaron con los terrenos de Polaris World en Alhama de Murcia, donde disponen de nueve millones de metros cuadrados. Estas entidades (Caja Mediterráneo, Bancaja, Banco de Valencia, Banco Popular y Cajamurcia), integradas en el grupo IRM (Inversiones Resort Mediterráneo), podrían entrar a formar parte de la sociedad de inversores encargada de desarrollar el parque temático de Paramount, por lo que su papel no se limitaría sólo a vender los terrenos. De esta forma, los promotores del proyecto matarían dos pájaros de un tiro: parte de los inversores que están buscando aportarían los terrenos.

Aunque IRM es la mejor situada en la línea de salida, el Gobierno regional puntualizó ayer que no hay nada decidido y que se están analizando otros emplazamientos, como los del eje Cartagena-Murcia, próximo al futuro aeropuerto. No niega, sin embargo, que Alhama ofrece algunas ventajas, como el hecho de que los terrenos están disponibles y de que no hay que negociar con un sinfín de propietarios. Puntualiza que la sociedad instrumental que aún debe constituirse y los representantes de Paramount serán quienes tengan la última palabra."

Nada ha cambiado / Nothing has changed

En la entrada Decisiones sorprendentes (y preocupantes) (4 abril de 2010) ya comentábamos que Resortalia y nuestra presidenta habían dado una especie de golpe de estado en la gestión del resort ¿Qué ha cambiado desde entonces?

We had already reported in the post Amazing (and worrying) decisions (April 4, 2010) that Resortalia and our president had almost carried out a “coup d’etat” in the resort management. What has changed since then?

Ahora los presidentes de fase se reunen cada 3 meses, y no mensualmente (ver entrada Actas de las reuniones trimestrales, 20 junio 2010). Las actas de dichas reuniones son mucho más escuetas que las de reuniones anteriores a la AGM 2010.

Phase presidents now meet every three months, and not every month (see the post Quarterly meetings minutes, June 20, 2010). The minutes of these meetings are much briefer than those for the sessions held before the AGM 2010.

Al menos en la fase 1 se celebran, aunque sin periodicidad concreta, reuniones de los presidentes de subcomunidad con el presidente de fase. A raíz de la de julio se dieron situaciones tensas debidas a que los asuntos tratados y aprobados no se reflejaron adecuadamente en el acta. Se produjo la dimisión, luego retirada, del presidente de dicha fase. Parece que el problema denunciado en la entrada Actas descafeinadas (4 de abril 2010) es parte del estilo de la dirección y administración actuales.

At least in phase 1, subcommunity president meetings are held with their phase president although at no specific intervals. Following the July meeting the situation was tense owing to issues discussed and approved but not reflected in the minutes. The phase president resigned but he later changed his mind. The problem reported in the post Mild minutes (April 4, 2010) seems to be part of the style of current resort management and administration.

Continuamos esperando la publicación de una política clara de contratación de servicios a proveedores. Se han pedido explicaciones por la larga duración de algunos contratos firmados, pero el silencio es la respuesta. De todo esto ya hemos hablado en entradas como Transparencia total (6 de junio 2010).

We are still waiting for the publication of a clear policy on tendering supplier services. Explanations for the long duration of some contracts have been asked for, but silence is the answer. We have already spoken about these subjects in other posts like Total transparency (June 6, 2010).

Resortalia ha dicho a personas relacionadas con este blog que se debe al comité de presidentes de fase y que sigue sus indicaciones. En cambio, según nuestra presidenta, Resortalia es quien toma las decisiones de los contratos ¿Tal vez porque así dificultan focalizar las quejas?

Resortalia has told the people involved in this blog that it follows the instructions of the phase president committee. However, according to our president, Resortalia is the decision maker on community contracts. Is this a way of making it more difficult to target complaints?

Sabemos que Resortalia presiona a nuestros proveedores para que no den información ni hablen con los propietarios. A veces incluso con malos modos. Todo debe pasar y ser filtrado por Resortalia. Los principios expuestos en la entrada Sin foro no hay críticas (4 abril 2010) también siguen en vigor.

We know Resortalia presses our suppliers in order to avoid their giving any information or even speaking with other owners. Sometimes they are even rude. Everything must pass through and be filtered by Resortalia. The principles outlined in the post No forum no critics (April 4, 2010) are still in effect.

Otras sugerencias y críticas se han ido exponiendo en entradas que puede localizar en el Índice de entradas al blog. Temas como la representación y la organización de la próxima AGM 2011 han sido ignorados, cuando no directamente rechazados. Da lo mismo que se propugne una AGM única, o una con los presidentes de los 78 bloques. Da lo mismo que el sistema actual de las fases no sea representativo (ver Representación desequilibrada, 12 abril 2010) y en opinión de muchos ilegal.

Other suggestions and criticisms have been published in posts that you can find in the Blog post index. Issues such as representation and organization of the next 2011 AGM have been ignored if not downright rejected. It makes no difference whether a single AGM for every owner is advocated, or only for the 78 subcommunity presidents. It makes no difference to them whether the current phase system is not representative (see Unbalanced representation, April 12, 2010) and, in the opinion of many, illegal.

El boletín mensual de HRGR apenas da información concreta, y se usa con frecuencia para presentar una imagen victimista de la presidenta como única respuesta a las discrepancias con su gestión por parte de cada vez más propietarios.

HRGR monthly newsletter hardly includes specific information and it is often used to show a victim image of our president. This is the only response to the increasing numbers of owners who don’t like her management.

En la AGM 2010, la junta directiva y Resortalia se quitaron de encima la oposición surgida en su seno. Lo hicieron presentando candidatos alternativos en las fases cuyos presidentes les resultaban más díscolos. Tuvieron bastante éxito. Los perjudicados hemos sido los propietarios que exigimos una gestión transparente y eficiente del resort.

At the 2010 AGM, the board and Resortalia removed the opposition which had arisen among its members. They did this by presenting alternative candidates in the phases with the most wayward presidents. They were quite successful. The losers have been the owners who demand transparent and efficient resort management.

Entrada y salida / Entrance and exit

We have received the following tips. We hope they will be useful to everybody.

"For the best operation of the barrier system at the entrance and exit of the resort, we should be grateful if you would respect some basic and useful rules:

• Always position the vehicle in the middle of the road in front of the barrier, so that the camera can read your number plate correctly.
• If there is another vehicle in front of you at the barrier, please wait until it has passed through the barrier. Wait for the barrier to close completely and then move your vehicle towards the barrier slowly, so that the camera can read your number plate correctly.
• We appreciate your co-operation and we request your patience whilst the Security staff is verifying vehicle details and the reason for visiting H.R.G.R.”

Nos han remitido las siguientes recomendaciones que esperamos resulten útiles a todo el mundo.

"Para el buen funcionamiento de las barrera, en la entrada y salida del resort, les agradeceríamos respetaran algunas normas básicas pero muy útiles:

• Posicione su coche siempre en el medio del carril frente a la barrera, para que la cámara pueda leer correctamente la matricula.
• Si en la barrera hay otro vehículo delante del suyo, por favor deténgase y espere a que haya pasado y la barrera se haya vuelto a cerrar. Acerque entonces su coche despacio hacia la barrera, de manera que la cámara pueda leer su matricula.
• Agradecemos su colaboración y les pedimos paciencia en los momentos en que el personal de Seguridad está tomando datos de otros vehículos y verificando el motivo de su visita a H.R.G.R.”

Everything that you do to the environment has a consequence / Todo lo que usted hace al medio ambiente tiene una consecuencia

John, our nature expert, has sent us this very interesting email:

"I have just received a note from Resortalia about proposed mass fumigation of Hacienda Riquelme.
It seems that the gardening company didn’t know what they were trying to kill and were planning to resort to mass (expensive?) fumigation.
They have now identified, Spodoptera Littoralis which grows up to be a very colourful moth, called in English, the Mediterranean Brocade. I have attached a picture.
I don’t know what damage the caterpillars were doing to the plants in the resort.
However, caterpillars and moths are food to many of the Birds and Bats that we see around the resort. When you kill the bottom of the food chain, everything above can die out.
Will we now see less birds and bats? Will they be poisoned by eating contaminated caterpillars or perhaps starve or move elsewhere because of lack of food?
Birds and Bats are natures FREE form of pest control. They should be left to it and encouraged to thrive."

Luckily, Resortalia has just sent another email informing that massive fumigation has been cancelled.

John, nuestro experto en naturaleza, nos ha enviado este muy interesante mensaje:

"Acabo de recibir una nota de Resortalia sobre la realización de una fumigación masiva de Hacienda Riquelme.
Parece que la empresa de jardinería no sabía lo que estaban tratando de matar y pensaban recurrir a la fumigación masiva (¿y cara?).
Han identificado ahora, a la Spodoptera littoralis que crece hasta convertirse en una mariposa muy colorida, llamada en inglés, Mediterranean Brocade. He adjuntado una foto.
No sé qué tipo de daño estaban haciendo las orugas a las plantas del resort.
Sin embargo, las orugas y las polillas son alimento de muchas de las aves y murciélagos que vemos alrededor del complejo. Cuando se mata a la parte inferior de la cadena alimentaria, todo lo que va por encima puede morir.
¿Vamos a ver menos aves y murciélagos? ¿Se van a envenenar por comer orugas contaminadas, o quizás morirán de hambre, o se trasladarán a otro lugar debido a la falta de alimentos?
Las aves y murciélagos son formas GRATUITAS de la naturaleza para el control de plagas. Deberían dejarlas que siguieran haciéndolo y que prosperen."

Afortunadamente, Resortalia acaba de enviar otro email informando que la fumigación masiva ha sido cancelada.

3600 visitas al blog / 3600 visits to the blog

By September 1, 2010, there were more than 3,600 visits and 10,000 page views by 1,360 visitors. The distribution in the period April to August is summarized in the following table.
Since July, visits from the United Kingdom have far exceeded those from Spain.

El pasado 1 de septiembre de 2010, se superaron las 3.600 visitas y 10.000 páginas vistas por 1.360 visitantes. Su distribución entre abril y agosto se muestra en la tabla siguiente.
Desde julio, las visitas con origen en el Reino Unido superan ampliamente a las realizadas desde España.
