Sucina fue en sus orígenes y durante mucho tiempo un pueblo de agricultores. Pero la construcción de resorts como La Peraleja y sobre todo Hacienda Riquelme, convirtieron a esta pedanía murciana en una localidad equipada con numerosos servicios. Los propios vecinos de Sucina, con el liderazgo de su alcalde pedáneo, Pepe Mercader, adaptaron con rapidez su pueblo a los tiempos modernos.

Pero en Sucina hay más cosas y no menos sorprendentes. Por ejemplo ¿Sabía usted que tenemos aquí a uno de los fabricantes de guitarras y violines más reputados de España?

Se trata de Ginés Marín y él mismo nos cuenta qué hace y cómo lo hace en el siguiente breve vídeo (en español con subtítulos en inglés) cuya banda sonora utiliza una guitarra hecha por él.

In its origin and for a long time, Sucina was a farming village. But the building of resorts like La Peraleja and especially Hacienda Riquelme, turned this Murcian hamlet into a village well equipped with many services. Sucina's inhabitants, under the leadership of their mayor, Pepe Mercader, quickly adapted their village to modern times.

But Sucina has more things and no less surprising. For example, did you know that we have here one of the most reputated guitar and violin manufacturer in Spain?

This is Ginés Marín and he himself tells us what and how he makes in the next short video (in Spanish with English subtitles) whose soundtrack uses a guitar made by him.

Instituto de Inteligencia Libre / Institute of Inteligencia Libre

La mayoría de los residentes en Hacienda Riquelme son personas jubiladas de varias nacionalidades. Pero también hay excepciones notables como la de nuestros vecinos Noemí y Manuel, fundadores del Instituto de la Inteligencia Libre. En este Instituto, investigan los factores de todo tipo que influyen principalmente en la estructuración del cerebro de los niños y en su aprendizaje, desarrollando diferentes proyectos de innovación educativa desde 2012.

Pero lo mejor es que ellos mismos le cuenten lo que hacen. Para eso han grabado los siguientes y breves videos (en español con subtítulos en inglés).

Most of the residents at Hacienda Riquelme are retired people of several nationalities. But there are also remarkable exceptions such as that of our neighbors Noemí and Manuel, founders of the Institute of Inteligencia Libre. In this Institute, they research all kinds of factors that mainly influence the structuring of children's brains and their learning, developing different educational innovation projects since 2012.

But it is much better than they themselves tell you what they are doing. For this they have recorded the following short videos (in Spanish with English subtitles).

Una gallineta y sus polluelos / A moorthen and its chicks

En estos tiempos de aislamiento en casa debido al Covid 19, nuestro greenkeeper Carlos Rebollo ha tenido la amabilidad de enviarnos este breve vídeo grabado en una orilla del lago grande. En él se puede ver a una gallineta con dos polluelos que utilizan los cañaverales como refugio.

Resulta esperanzador apreciar como la vida se abre paso, en este caso de unas aves sometidas a la presión que sobre ellas ejercen a diario los numerosos gatos existentes en el resort.

In these times of home isolation due to the Covid-19, our greenkeeper Carlos Rebollo has kindly sent us this short video, shot on an edge of the big lake. In it, you can see a moorthen with two chicks using the reedbeds as their refuge.

It is encouraging to note how life makes its way, in this case of some birds that are under the presure exerted on them everyday by the many cats existing in the resort.

Vídeo sobre Doñana / Video about Doñana

Los fotógrafos del entorno de Doñana han realizado este vídeo en homenaje a todos los héroes que están luchando contra el Covid 19.

Bastantes de las aves que salen en él, se han visto también en Hacienda Riquelme y alrededores, igual que ocurría en el vídeo de la entrada España inexplorada.

Photographers of Doñana surroundings have made this video as a tribute to all the heroes who are fighting against Covid 19.

During the home isolation time because of the Covid-19, we have found in Vimeo this wonderful video, a part of it being filmed on the coast of Murcia. Sucina. Boletín El Gavilán / El Gavilán (The Hawk) newsletter

En años anteriores hemos escrito varias entradas breves sobre la historia de Sucina. Hablamos de su fundación (La fundación de Sucina), de las órdenes religiosas instaladas en la zona en tiempos de los piratas berberiscos (Corsarios berberiscos y órdenes religiosas), de cuando Sucina tuvo su propio ayuntamiento (El municipio de Sucina) y de la estación de ferrocarril (La estación de ferrocarril). En nuestra Historia de Hacienda Riquelme se cita repetidas veces a Sucina.

También informamos de presentaciones de libros, como Historia de Sucina y Comarca Volumen 1, del cronista oficial D. Luis Lisón, y Materiales de Sucina-2, del historiador sucinero D. Alberto Hill Giménez, fundador del Centro de Estudios de Sucina en Cataluña (CESC).

Esta nueva entrada se la queremos dedicar precisamente al señor Hill Giménez. Hace unos meses, empezó a editar en formato electrónico el boletín El Gavilán, acerca de la historia de Sucina. En él aporta y fomenta la búsqueda de información original, a menudo facilitada por los propios vecinos. Una gran herramienta para recuperar, conocer y salvar la historia de este entrañable pueblo. Agradecemos y felicitamos a su autor y a todos sus colaboradores por su trabajo.

En el momento de escribir esta entrada, se han publicado dos números del boletín, que Alberto ha puesto amablemente a disposición de todos en este enlace.

In previous years, we have writen several short posts about the history of Sucina. We spoke of its foundation (The foundation of Sucina), the religious orders installed in the area at the time of the Berber pirates (Berber pirates and religious orders), when Sucina had its own town hall (The municipality of Sucina) and about the railway station (The railway station). In our History of Hacienda Riquelme Sucina is also repeatedly mentioned.

We also reported about book presentations, such as Historia de Sucina y Comarca, Volumen 1, by the official chronicler D. Luis Lisón, and Materiales de Sucina-2, by the Sucina born historian D. Alberto Hill Giménez, founder of the Centro de Estudios de Sucina en Cataluña (CESC).

We want to dedicate this new post to Mr. Hill Giménez. A few months ago, he began to edit El Gavilán (The Hawk) electronic newsletter about the history of Sucina. It provides and encourages the search for new information, often supplied by the neighbours themselves. It is a great tool to recover, know and save the history of this beloved village. We thank and congratulate to Alberto and all its collaborators for their work.

At the time of writing this post, two issues of the newsletter have been published. Alberto has kindly made them available to everyone at this link.
