Hidden treasures of the night (3) / Tesoros ocultos de la noche (3)

Have you ever read our posts The moths of Hacienda Riquelme or Hidden treasures of the night? If so then this new one will probably interest you.

Our neighbour John Girdley has been studying the wildlife of Hacienda Riquelme, including the many species of Moths that are attracted to his patio lights.

On the night of 25th August 2011, he photographed a moth that he had never seen before. Initially, it was believed that this was only the second record of this species to be identified in Spain.  However, after further research (August 2012), the moth was re-identified as a Myelois hispanicella instead of Saluria maculivittella.
