The Neighborhood Association “Los Estorninos”, which we have already talked about in previous posts, has issued the following communiqué explaining what it is and what its objectives are:
The Neighborhood Association "Los Estorninos" is a non-profit organization, independent of any political or social group. It is formed by a group of people who have voluntarily joined together to defend and watch over the conservation of the Hacienda Riquelme Resort.
The way it was designed, with many green areas and low building density; the enclave between three areas of special protection for birds, the presence of five lakes and the abundance of native flora have contributed since its creation to make it an important enclave of natural life, refuge and habitat of numerous animal species for whose survival we would be responsible if we allow the enclave to degrade. The care and implementation of vegetation in the Resort will contribute to the decrease of environmental CO2. The ample vegetation covers together with the shadows of the trees will ostensibly lower the temperatures in an area where it is increasingly common to suffer episodes of temperatures that exceed 40ºC.
Living in this natural environment is a privilege that we want to preserve so that current and future residents can continue to enjoy this paradise. This is our contribution to the fight against climate change.
We aspire to achieve a management of the Resort that respects the original design. A management in which there is no room for outside interests or incompetent decisions.
We also intend to bring neighbors closer together, carrying out recreational and socio-cultural activities. The linguistic diversity and the seasonality of many residents will not be impediments to develop these activities.
We will also try to convey the needs of our neighbours to the public and private authorities, bringing to the attention of the competent body the problems that require a solution from that authority.
The greater the number of members, the greater the strength and representation capacity of the Association.
