No to unjustified logging! Save our trees!

The Board of Los Estorninos Homeowners Association has sent us the communiqué below, the content of which we fully support:

The explanations given in communiqué 35 and other previous ones sent by the resort's administration in relation to the pruning and removal of trees at Hacienda Riquelme are not backed up by expert reports from technicians in the field.

It would be desirable for the HRGR Board to require that the felling of trees that could cause damage to the structure of buildings (foundations, walls, drainage, pipes, cables, etc.) must be accredited by means of a technical report signed by a competent professional who also certifies the impossibility of alternative treatment to felling.

There is no evidence that trees are causing damage to the structure of buildings. If this were the case, Murcia City Council would have made it a rule to prohibit the planting of trees within 7 metres of a building. There are no regulations in this respect. The streets of Murcia are full of trees very close to buildings.

The mere display of photographs of potentially dangerous trees is not a technical report and that is what STV has submitted: photographs.

Furthermore, we would like to emphasise that if the removal of the tree is the only viable alternative, it would be advisable to transplant the tree or to plant another adult tree of a better adapted species in another area close to the original one.

So far the trees that have died due to disease, lack of water, uprooted by the wind, felled, etc., have not been replaced. And they are not few in number. Moreover, it is possible that some of them would not have died if they had been more carefully tended. Drastic and massive pruning does not help much either.

It is important to be aware of the need to protect ecosystems. The tree has been the main element shaping the presence of nature in an urbanised area such as Hacienda Riquelme. It also performs regulating and purifying functions of an environmental nature and also offers shelter and protection to the fauna and flora. As a consequence, it guarantees an improvement in the quality of life of all the neighbours.

No a la tala injustificada ¡Salvad nuestros árboles!

La Junta Directiva de la Asociación de vecinos los Estorninos nos ha enviado el siguiente comunicado cuyo contenido apoyamos plenamente:

Las explicaciones expuestas en el comunicado 35 y otros anteriores enviados por la administración del resort en relación con la poda y retirada de árboles en Hacienda Riquelme no están avaladas por informes periciales de técnicos en la materia.

Sería deseable que el comité de HRGR exija que la tala de árboles que puedan provocar daños en la estructura de edificios (cimientos, muros, saneamientos, tuberías, cables…etc.) se debe acreditar mediante informe técnico firmado por un facultativo competente que avale también la imposibilidad de tratamiento alternativo a la tala.

No hay ninguna prueba de que los árboles estén causando daño en la estructura de los edificios. Si esto fuera así el Ayuntamiento de Murcia habría establecido por norma prohibir la plantación de árboles a menos de 7 metros de un edificio. No hay ninguna normativa al respecto. Las calles de Murcia están llenas de árboles muy próximos a edificios.

La sola muestra de fotografías de los árboles potencialmente peligrosos no es un informe técnico y eso es lo que STV ha presentado: fotografías.

Además, queremos hacer hincapié en que si la retirada del árbol es la única alternativa viable sería conveniente llevar a cabo el trasplante de dicho ejemplar o la plantación de otro árbol adulto de otra especie mejor adaptada en otra zona próxima a la original.

Hasta ahora los árboles que han muerto por enfermedad, falta de agua, arrancados por el viento talados…etc, no han sido repuestos. Y no son pocos. Además, posiblemente algunos no habrían muerto de haber tenido un cuidado más esmerado. Las podas drásticas y masivas tampoco ayudan mucho.

Es importante estar concienciados sobre la necesidad de proteger los ecosistemas. El árbol ha constituido el principal elemento conformador de la presencia de la naturaleza en un área urbanizada como es Hacienda Riquelme. Ejerce, además, funciones reguladoras y depuradoras de carácter ambiental y también ofrece abrigo y protección a la fauna y a la flora. Como consecuencia garantiza una mejora en la calidad de vida de todos los vecinos.

En febrero de 2024 publicamos la entrada NO a la tala de árboles. Desgraciadamente, un año después, los responsables del destrozo vuelven a la carga. Nos preguntamos:

• ¿Por qué se retiran ahora árboles inclinados y no se pusieron en su momento los tutores que previnieran esa inclinación?
• ¿Quién decidió que ALGUNOS de los árboles próximos a los edificios podían causar daños a la estructura? ¿Por qué no los han causado en 17 años, pero ahora se considera que sí los causarán?
• ¿Por qué las consultas informales hechas a otros arquitectos discrepan de la anterior decisión por las características constructivas de los edificios del resort?
• ¿Cuáles son las razones reales para la tala de muchos de los árboles condenados? ¿Mejores vistas al campo de golf?

Los árboles constituyen un elemento muy importante de un resort por su alto impacto estético, su contribución a retener la tierra, su favorable influencia en la avifauna, su menor consumo de agua de riego una vez arraigados, su coste de reposición y su larga vida.

Cuantos menos árboles tengamos, peor será nuestra jardinería.

Cuantos más árboles se retiren, menos trabajo (podado, fumigado, ¿cuidado?) tendrá la empresa que lleva la jardinería del resort. Pero seguirán cobrando lo mismo.

La legislación murciana permite estas talas, que desde nuestro punto de vista son injustificadas. Por ejemplo, en Madrid estarían sometidas a muchas restricciones y se sancionarían con importantes multas.

In February 2024 we published the post NO to the logging. Unfortunately, a year later, those responsible for the destruction are back at it again. We ask ourselves:

• Why are leaning trees now being removed and why were no stakes put in place at the time to prevent such leaning?
• Who decided that SOME of the trees next to the buildings could cause damage to the structure? Why have they not caused damage in 17 years, but now it is considered that they will?
• Why do informal consultations with other architects disagree with the above decision because of the constructive characteristics of the resort buildings?
• What are the real reasons for felling many of the condemned trees? Better views of the golf course?

Trees are a very important element of a resort because of their high aesthetic impact, their contribution to soil retention, their favourable influence on birdlife, their lower irrigation water consumption once rooted, their replacement cost and their long life. 

The fewer trees we have, the worse our landscaping will be.

The more trees they remove, the less work (pruning, spraying, care?) the resort's gardening company will have to do. But they will still charge the same.

Murcia's legislation allows such felling, that in our view are unjustified. In Madrid, for example, they would be subject to many restrictions and would be punishable by heavy fines.

¡Feliz Día del Árbol! / Happy Arbor Day!

En 2012, siguiendo la recomendación del Congreso Forestal Mundial y de la Organización de Naciones Unidas para la Agricultura y la Alimentación (FAO), la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas (ONU) acordó declarar cada 21 de marzo como el Día Internacional de los Bosques o Día Forestal Mundial.

En ciudades y pueblos, esta fecha suele conocerse como Día del Árbol y su celebración consiste en plantar árboles y otras actividades encaminadas a divulgar su importancia para la vida y el medio ambiente.

Pero en Hacienda Riquelme es diferente. Aquí, en vez de plantarlos y cuidarlos, se decidió talar casi el 5% de los existentes por razones nada convincentes. La laxa legislación murciana permite disparates medioambientales que, en otros lugares, como en Madrid, darían lugar a sanciones muy elevadas.

La escasez de agua hace inviable tener césped como el de años anteriores. Por esa razón, árboles, arbustos y plantas autóctonas son claves para nuestros jardines. Pero hay quién prefiere cubrir el resort de piedras ¿En manos de quién está el paisajismo? ¿Continuará su deterioro hasta convertir a Hacienda Riquelme en un resort sahariano? Además, no olvide que los daños a la jardinería los está pagando usted con sus cuotas.

In 2012, following the recommendation of the World Forestry Congress and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the United Nations (UN) General Assembly agreed to declare every March 21 as International Forest Day or World Forest Day.

In cities and towns, this date is usually known as Arbor Day and its celebration consists of planting trees and other activities aimed at spreading awareness of their importance for life and the environment.

But at Hacienda Riquelme it is different. Here, instead of planting and caring for them, it was decided to cut down almost 5% of the existing trees for unconvincing reasons. The lax Murcian legislation allows environmental absurdities that, in other places, such as Madrid, would result in very high penalties.

Water shortages make it unfeasible to have lawns like those of previous years. For that reason, trees, shrubs and native plants are key to our gardens. But there are those who prefer to cover the resort with stones. In whose hands is the landscaping? Will it continue to deteriorate until Hacienda Riquelme becomes a Saharan resort? Also, don't forget that the damage to the gardening is being paid for by you with your fees.

La imagen de un resort depende en gran medida de la jardinería. En el caso de Hacienda Riquelme, es uno de sus mayores problemas. La última, muy discutible y mal justificada decisión de talar un buen número de árboles ha provocado airadas reacciones en las redes sociales. Un propietario nos ha enviado las imágenes siguientes.

The image of a resort depends to a great extent on the landscaping. In the case of Hacienda Riquelme, it is one of its biggest problems. The latest, highly debatable and poorly justified decision to cut down a high number of trees has provoked angry reactions on social networks. An owner has sent us the images below.

Árboles singulares en Hacienda Riquelme / Singular trees on Hacienda Riquelme

Los jardines de Hacienda Riquelme incluyen algunos árboles singulares. Localizamos tres:

• Ceiba speciosa. La de la fotografía está junto al Casón. Hay varias más pequeñas en una rotonda de la calle Índico.
  
• Pino canario. Ejemplar único en el resort. Es de hoja perenne.
  
• Álamo blanco. Es un gran ejemplar, único en Hacienda Riquelme. Frecuente en España, aquí es raro porque necesita bastante agua. Probablente se ha desarrollado porque está junto al estanque de tormentas del resort.

Los fotografiamos el 30 de abril de 2022 y el 4 de agosto de 2023.

The gardens of Hacienda Riquelme include some unique trees. We located three:

• Ceiba speciosa. The one in the photograph is next to the Casón. There are several smaller ones at a roundabout on Índico street.
• Canary Island pine. Unique specimen in the resort. It is evergreen.
  
• White poplar. It is a great specimen, unique in Hacienda Riquelme. Frequent in Spain, here it is rare because it needs a lot of water. It's probably grown because it's next to the resort's storm pond.

We took pictures on April 30, 2022 and August 4, 2023.

Muchos propietarios compraron en Hacienda Riquelme por su paisajismo mediterráneo claramente tradicional del sureste español. Sin embargo, los derechos de estos propietarios no están siendo respetados en el enfoque actual de jardinería de STV.

Un ejemplo se puede ver en la siguiente foto. Al fondo hay un olivo con poda típica española. En contraste, en primer plano hay olivos podados en un estilo kitsch, impropio de Murcia.

Hay excesos aún peores. Alguien parece estar decidido a extender este estilo al resto del resort. Podas aberrantes, supresión de áreas silvestres y uso extensivo e invasivo de herbicidas, por citar solo algunos ejemplos.

Para empeorar todavía más las cosas, esta estrategia de jardinería totalmente inapropiada está siendo pagada por todos los propietarios.

Many owners bought at Hacienda Riquelme for its distinctly traditional south-eastern Spanish, Mediterranean landscape. However, the rights of these owners are not being respected in the current approach to gardening by STV.

An example can be seen in the photo below. In the background there is an olive tree with typical Spanish pruning. In contrast, in the foreground, there are olive trees pruned in a kitsch style, totally at odds with the natural Murcian landscape.

There are even worse excesses. Someone seems to be determined to extend this style to the rest of the resort. Crazy pruning, suppression of wild areas and extensive, invasive use of herbicides to cite just a few examples.

To make matters worse, this totally inappropriate gardening strategy is being paid for by all of the owners.

Hemos localizado tres. Se fotografiaron el 30 de abril y en unas semanas estarán cubiertos de hojas:

• Ceiba speciosa. La de la fotografía está junto al Casón. Hay varias más pequeñas en una rotonda de la calle Índico.
  
• Pino canario. Ejemplar único en el resort.
  
• Álamo blanco. Es un gran ejemplar, único en Hacienda Riquelme. Frecuente en España, aquí es raro porque necesita bastante agua. Probablente se ha desarrollado porque está junto al estanque de tormentas del resort.

Reflexiones sobre un polémico proyecto de paisajismo / Thoughts on a controversial landscaping project

Esta entrada recopila comentarios y preguntas de propietarios sobre el nuevo proyecto de jardinería. Bastantes se han publicado ya en entradas anteriores, pero otras son nuevas. Nuestro objetivo es ayudar a los propietarios a tomar sus propias decisiones, sin necesidad de seguir ciegamente a un líder.

This post collects comments and questions of owners about the new gardening project. Quite a few have already been published in previous entries but many are new. Our goal is to help owners make their own decisions, without need of blindly follow a leader.

1. La propuesta implica un cambio radical del estilo del resort, pasándose de uno Mediterráneo a otro que obedece al gusto de personas desconocedoras del clima mediterráneo y de las consecuencias legales derivadas de la modificación, sin el consentimiento expreso de todos sus propietarios. No se está respetando el diseño original por el que los propietarios decidieron invertir su dinero en este resort. Tenga presente que el proyecto planea eliminar todas las zonas con vegetación silvestre del resort.
   The proposal implies a radical change in the style of the resort, moving from one Mediterranean to another that obeys the taste of people, unaware of Mediterranean climate and of legal consequences derived from the modification, without the express consent of all its owners. The original design for which the owners decided to invest their money in this resort is not being respected. Please note that the project plans to remove all areas with wild vegetation of the resort.

2. Los trabajos en zonas de GNK son más de lo mismo. Con el agravante de que se utiliza el dinero de los propietarios para pagar intervenciones “barrocas” en sitios que no pertenecen a la Comunidad General, mientras tenemos zonas con la jardinería en mal estado ¿Por qué no se arregla y mantiene adecuadamente las partes del resort que pertenecen y pagan los propietarios de este?
   Works in GNK areas are more of the same. With the aggravating circumstance that owners' money is used to pay “baroque” works in places that don´t belong to the General Community, while there are areas with gardening in poor condition. Why isn't fixed and properly maintained the areas of the resort owned and paid by all of us?

3. Se pretende ahorrar agua, pero ahora la Comunidad General va a pagar el riego de nuevas zonas, que son propiedad de GNK ¿Qué sentido tiene eso?
   It is intended to save water, but now the General Community is going to pay for irrigation of new areas, owned by GNK. What is the point of that?

4. La Comunidad General no es una empresa ¿Tiene legalmente derecho a invertir nuestro dinero en terrenos que no son de nuestra propiedad?
   The General Community is not a company. Does it have the legal right to invest our money in land that is not our property?

5. Los bocetos del proyecto muestran que se pretende hacer varios muretes de piedra ¿Por qué no se reparan y mantienen los existentes, que hay bastantes piedras desprendidas?
   The sketches of the project show that it is intended to make several stone walls. Why are the existing ones not repaired and maintained, as there are quite a few stones detached?



Hacienda Riquelme ¿Un resort mediterráneo? / A Mediterranean resort?

6. El ahorro de agua se consigue con plantas autóctonas, esparto, olivos, algarrobos ¿Por qué estas especies son ignoradas en el proyecto?
   Saving water is achieved with native plants, esparto, olive trees, carob trees. Why are these species ignored in the project?

7. Una cosa es reemplazar césped por piedras para ahorrar agua y otra diferente intervenir en zonas que no tienen césped y por tanto tampoco necesitan piedras ¿Por qué se pretende hacerlo?
   To replace grass with stones to save water is a thing and quite another to intervene in areas that do not have grass and therefore do not need stones. Why is planned to do so?

8. Parece que los árboles a plantar en las zonas de la Comunidad General serán solo pinos, cipreses y “chamaerops humilis” ¿Por qué no otras especies acordes con la jardinería original del resort?
   It seems that the trees to be planted in the areas of the General Community will only be pines, cypresses and “chamaerops humilis”. What about other species in line with the original gardening of the resort?

9. También quieren plantar palmeras, pero en las zonas de GNK ¿Por qué no las reponen en las piscinas?
   They also want to plant palm trees, but in the GNK areas, why don't they replenish them at the pools?

10. En los bocetos se ven muchas flores ¿No es muy raro si lo que se pretende es ahorrar agua?
    Many flowers are seen in the sketches. Is it not very strange considering that the target is saving water?



¿Hacienda Riquelme vs Disneyland Riquelme?

11. En los bocetos se ven muchos arbustos y setos ¿Por qué no se reponen antes los que hay en mal estado en muchos apartamentos y subcomunidades?
    In the sketches you can see a lot of bushes and hedges. Why don't replace sooner those that are in poor condition in many apartments and sub-communities?

12. Se está sustituyendo césped por piedras desde hace años. Si cada vez hay más piedras, menos césped que mantener y menos consumo de agua ¿Dónde están los ahorros en jardinería y agua de riego?
    Grass has been replaced by stones for years. If there are more and more stones, less grass to maintain and less water consumption, where are the savings in gardening and irrigation water?

13. Del cuidado (y podado) de olivos y otros árboles no se dice nada ¿Se seguirá con la destructiva política actual?
    Nothing is said about the care (and pruning) of olives and other trees. Will the current destructive policy continue?

14. El proyecto es antiecológico por la cantidad de plástico que se coloca bajo las zonas empedradas y el césped artificial. Compartimos el lugar con pájaros, abejas, polillas, mariposas e insectos, que perderán hábitat ¿Se va a atentar contra la biodiversidad?
    This is not an eco-friendly project with both the underground plastic to be put down for the rocks and the AstroTurf. We share this spot with birds, bees, moths, butterflies and insects who will be losing habitat. Is biodiversity going to be threatened?

15. Hacienda Riquelme está muy cerca de la ZEPA (Zona de Especial Protección para las AVES) de Monte El Valle y Sierras de Altaona y Escalona. Muchas aves de especies protegidas pueden verse a menudo en el resort ¿Se va a hacer un estudio de impacto medioambiental del proyecto?
    Hacienda Riquelme is very close to the ZEPA (Special Protection Area for BIRDS) of Monte El Valle and Sierras de Altaona and Escalona. Many birds of protected species can often be seen at the resort. An environmental impact study is going to be done for the project?



¿Cubrir de piedras un pequeño olivar que nunca ha tenido riego? ¿Ajardinar una zona infantil sin apenas uso? / To cover with stones a small olive grove that has never been watered? Landscaping a children's area with hardly any use?

16. ¿Por qué no se menciona el desmonte que hay detrás la Fase 7?
    Why Phase 7 rear bank is not mentioned at all?

17. ¿Por qué tanta prisa en recibir los comentarios de los propietarios y convocar una junta extraordinaria para aprobar un proyecto tan importante y polémico?
    Why such a hurry to receive comments from the owners and call for an extraordinary meeting to approve such an important and controversial project?

18. ¿Por qué no se ha suministrado ninguna información sobre la evolución del consumo de agua de riego a lo largo de los años? ¿Por qué tampoco de las previsiones de ahorro de agua?
    Why has no information been provided on the evolution of irrigation water consumption over the years? Why not either forecasts of saving of water?

19. El nivel técnico de la actual empresa de jardinería ha sido cuestionado a menudo ¿Por qué no publicar los acuerdos de nivel de servicio a firmar?
    Technical level of current gardening company has often been questioned. Why not to publish the service level agreements to be signed?

20. ¿Por qué solo hace falta el 51% de los votos para aprobar un proyecto de tanta trascendencia pero para poner una zona vallada para perros hace falta el 100%?
    Why does it only take 51% of the votes to approve a project of such importance but to put a fenced area for dogs you need 100%?

21. Un contrato de 8 años con la empresa de jardinería resulta inconcebible ¿Es del todo legal o al menos impugnable?
    An 8-year contract with the gardening company is inconceivable. Is it entirely legal or at least contestable?

22. El proyecto presentado es complejo y caro. Se pague como se pague, todo indica que terminará suponiendo un importante incremento de costes que pagarán los propietarios ¿Quién se cree eso de que “las cuotas no subirán”?

El análisis del proyecto de reforma del paisajismo presentada a los propietarios del resort plantea un buen número de comentarios y preguntas (vea las imágenes al final).
The analysis of the landscaping reform project presented to the owners of the resort raises a good number of comments and questions (see the images below).

1. El proyecto llena el resort de piedras de colorines y ajardinamientos de fantasía, que ni encajan con el estilo del resort, ni son necesarios en todos los lugares donde pretenden hacerlo ¿A gusto de quién se ha hecho el diseño?
   The project fills the resort with colored stones and fantasy landscaping, which neither fit in with the style of the resort, nor are they necessary in all the places where they intend to do so. Whose taste has the design been made to?
2. Los trabajos en zonas de GNK son más de lo mismo. Con el agravante de que utilizan el dinero de los propietarios para hacer intervenciones “barrocas” en sitios que no nos pertenecen ¿Por qué no arreglamos también la carretera RM-F19 desde el resort a Sucina?
   Works in GNK areas are more of the same. With the aggravating circumstance that they use owners' money to carry out “baroque” interventions in places that do not belong to us, why don't we also fix the RM-F19 road from the resort to Sucina?
3. La Comunidad General no es una empresa ¿Tiene legalmente derecho a invertir nuestro dinero en terrenos que no son de nuestra propiedad?
   The General Community is not a company. Does it have the legal right to invest our money in land that is not our property?
4. Los bocetos del proyecto muestran que se pretende hacer varios muretes de piedra ¿Por qué no se reparan y mantienen los existentes, que hay bastantes piedras que se han desprendido de ellos?
   The sketches of the project show that it is intended to make several stone walls. Why are the existing ones not repaired and maintained, as there are quite a few stones detached from them?
5. Parece que los árboles a plantar en las zonas de la Comunidad General serán solo pinos, cipreses y “chamaerops humilis” ¿No hay otras especies más acordes con la jardinería original del resort?
   It seems that the trees to be planted in the areas of the General Community will only be pines, cypresses and “chamaerops humilis”. Aren't there other species more in line with the original gardening of the resort?
6. También quieren plantar palmeras, pero en las zonas de GNK ¿Por qué no las reponen en las piscinas?
   They also want to plant palm trees, but in the GNK areas, why don't they replenish them at the pools?
7. En los bocetos se ven muchos arbustos y setos ¿Por qué no se reponen antes los que hay en mal estado en muchos apartamentos y subcomunidades?
   In the sketches you can see a lot of bushes and hedges. Why don't replace sooner those that are in poor condition in many apartments and sub-communities?
8. Del cuidado (y podado) de olivos y otros árboles no se dice nada ¿Se seguirá con la destructiva política actual?
   Nothing is said about the care (and pruning) of olives and other trees. Will the current destructive policy continue?
9. El proyecto presentado es complejo y caro. Se pague como se pague, todo indica que terminará suponiendo un importante incremento de costes ¿Quién se cree eso de que “las cuotas no subirán”?

La necesaria reforma de la jardinería se puede hacer de otra manera. La que nos han presentado solo podemos calificarla de megalómana y repleta de disparates. Los ahorros de los que hablaron cuando pasamos al modelo de autoadministración no se han visto por ninguna parte. Con la jardinería tampoco parece que haya intención de ahorrar. Además, van camino de convertir el resort en el más hortera de Murcia. Si los gestores no entienden esto, mejor que se vayan. Claro que, a pesar de los años que llevan en España, algunos no entienden nada, ni siquiera el idioma español.
The necessary landscaping reform can be done in another way. The one that has been presented to us can only be described as megalomaniac and full of nonsense. The savings they talked about when we moved to the self-management model are nowhere to be seen. With gardening, there does not seem to be any intention of saving either. In addition, they are on their way to turning the resort into the most tacky in Murcia. If the managers don't understand this, they'd better go. Of course, despite the years they have been in Spain, some do not understand anything, not even the Spanish language.

El 31 de enero, los propietarios del resort recibieron por email documentación sobre el proyecto de reforma de la jardinería. Una vez estudiada la propuesta del Comité de Hacienda Riquelme, nos oponemos a él por las siguientes razones:

1. La propuesta implica un cambio radical del estilo del resort, pasándose de uno Mediterráneo a otro que obedece al gusto de algunos miembros del Comité, desconocedores del clima mediterráneo y de las consecuencias legales derivadas de la modificación, sin el consentimiento expreso de todos sus propietarios. No se está respetando el diseño original por el que los propietarios decidieron invertir su dinero en este resort.

2. Una cosa es reemplazar césped por piedras para ahorrar agua y otra diferente intervenir en zonas que no tienen césped y por tanto tampoco necesitan piedras.

3. El ahorro de agua se consigue con plantas autóctonas, que son totalmente ignoradas en el proyecto ¿Va a ser todo cipreses y palmitos (o como se llamen)?

4. En los bocetos se ven muchas flores. No será precisamente para ahorrar agua...

5. Se está sustituyendo césped por piedras desde hace años. Si cada vez hay más piedras, menos césped que mantener y menos consumo de agua ¿Dónde están los ahorros en jardinería y agua de riego?

6. Un contrato de 8 años con la empresa de jardinería resulta inconcebible ¿Es del todo legal o podría haber otras cosas?

7. Intervenir en zonas pertenecientes al campo de golf con el dinero de todos los propietarios es inaceptable. Sobre todo porque la jardinería del resort es muy deficiente en algunas zonas ¡Arreglen primero lo que hay!

8. Tras las muy serias acusaciones de Imont contra el actual Comité, creemos que el equipo gestor no está legitimado para presentar un proyecto así ¡Les pedimos que dimitan!

This short video (57") has been shot in the "private garden" of a member of the Committee. In it you can see trees planted next to the facade, beautiful olive trees with a ridiculous pruning, absolutely improper of Spain, many whim interventions in common areas. Is this style the one owners want? Please note this is Spain not UK.

On January 31, the owners of the resort received documentation about the landscaping reform project by email. After studying the proposal of the Riquelme Treasury Committee, we reject it for the following reasons:

1. The proposal implies a radical change in the style of the resort, moving from one Mediterranean to another that obeys the taste of some members of the Committee, unaware of Mediterranean climate and of legal consequences derived from the modification, without the express consent of all its owners. The original design for which the owners decided to invest their money in this resort is not being respected.

2. To replace grass with stones to save water is a thing and quite another to intervene in areas that do not have grass and therefore do not need stones.

3. Saving water is achieved with native plants, which are totally ignored in the project. Is it going to be all cypresses and palm hearts (or whatever they are called)?

4. Many flowers are seen in the sketches. It will not be to save water... 5. Grass has been replaced by stones for years. If there are more and more stones, less grass to maintain and less water consumption, where are the savings in gardening and irrigation water?

6. An 8-year contract with the gardening company is inconceivable. Is it fully legal or could there be other things?

7. Works in areas belonging to the golf course with the money of all the owners is unacceptable. Especially because landscaping of the resort is very poor in some areas. Fix our problems first!

8. After Imont's very serious accusations against the current Committee, we believe that the management team is not legitimized to present such a project. We ask for their resignation!

En mayo de 2014 publicamos la entrada Nuestros árboles que incluía un buen número de fotos. Las siete últimas mostraban el lamentable estado de los árboles en torno a un edificio de la fase 1.

En agosto de 2021, las fotos incluidas en esta entrada se tomaron en el mismo lugar.

La situación no solo no ha mejorado en siete años, sino que en la actualidad hay menos árboles que a finales de 2007, cuando se entregaron los apartamentos. Además, el desarrollo de la mayoría de los ejemplares que sobreviven es muy pobre.

Este problema se da solo en algunas partes del resort. Todos los propietarios pagan por los mismos servicios, pero no todos los reciben.

Durante todo este tiempo, nuestro Comité ha ignorado siempre las reclamaciones efectuadas.

En cambio, actuando como sparring de los responsables del resort, la empresa encargada de la jardinería ha dedicado tiempo para dar múltiples disculpas y diferentes explicaciones cada vez:

• Que si la tierra no es buena porque es arcillosa.
• Que si solo tiene poco más de un metro de profundidad.
• Que si los árboles (plantados por la misma empresa de jardinería) no son de la especie adecuada.
• Que si reponen árboles, los propietarios tienen que pagarlos y ¡regarlos ellos mismos!.
• Que si no arraigan, la compañía no se responsabiliza de nada.
• Que no hay presupuesto para reponer ni para abonar tierra.
• Que no hay agua.
• Que...

¡Qué mala suerte, todos los problemas del mundo, pero ninguna solución! Nos preguntamos si no se debería dejar de pagar por un servicio que no se recibe.

Mientras tanto, a los jardineros les ordenan dedicarse a podar todo lo que crezca en el resort y dejar a los árboles con copa esférica, pero no a resolver ningún problema.

No tiene sentido que personas cuya gestión ha sido siempre fuertemente criticada lleven más de 8 años en el cargo. Es hora de que vuelvan a su casa, descansen y nos dejen descansar a los demás.

In May 2014 we published the post Our Trees including several photos. The last seven showed the very poor development of the trees around a building of phase 1.

In August 2021, the photos included in this post were taken in the same place.

The situation has not improved in seven years, even worse there are now fewer trees than at the end of 2007, when the apartments were handed over. Furthermore, the development of most of the surviving specimens is very poor.

This problem only occurs in some parts of the resort. All owners pay for the same services, but not all receive them.

During all this time, our Board have always ignored the complaints they received.

Instead, acting as sparring for those in charge of the resort, the gardening company has dedicated time to give multiple apologies and different explanations each time:

• The earth is not good because it is clayey.
• The earth is only a bit more than a meter deep.
• The trees (planted by same gardening company) are not the adequate species.
• Trees can be replaced, but the owners must pay for and water them.
• The company is not responsible for anything if the planted trees don't root.
• There is no budget to replace or feed the ground.
• There is no water.
• ...

What a bad luck, all the problems in the world but no solution! We wonder if we should stop paying for a service that in practice is not provided.

Meanwhile, gardeners are ordered to prune whatever grows in the resort and leaving the trees with spherical crown, but not to solve any problem.

It doesn't make sense that people whose management has always been strongly criticized remain in office after at least 8 years. It is time for them to go home, rest and let all of us rest also.
