A primeros del mayo, dos parejas de golondrinas construyeron sus nidos en la terraza de Silvia y pusieron huevos.
Todas las tardes, Silvia se deleita con los alegres y vistosos vuelos de estas pequeñas aves ¡Un auténtico ballet!
In early May, two pairs of swallows built their nests on Silvia's terrace and laid eggs.
Every afternoon, Silvia delights in the happy and acrobatic flights of these small birds. A real ballet!
A primeros de junio, los huevos habían eclosionado y los polluelos crecían rápido. Daba gusto verles aparecer tímidamente al borde de su nido, pidiendo comida a sus padres.
In early June, the eggs had hatched and the chicks were growing fast. It was nice to see them appear shy on the edge of their nest, asking for food to its parents.

esfuerzo llevamos años intentado divulgar (gracias

José Francisco tiene una página web de gran interés (http://fobos.inf.um.es/jfcalvo/) que recomendamos visitar a cualquier amante de la naturaleza, en
particular de la murciana. A través de su página hemos descubierto su canal de
YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/user/jfcalvo64/videos). Es espectacular. Contiene un gran número de vídeos de corta duración pero grabados en alta resolución, muchos en 4K, sobre
todo de aves. A poco que le guste la vida silvestre, no deje de ver
estos vídeos. Podrá ver, escuchar y aprender a identificar muchas aves
presentes en Hacienda Riquelme y alrededores ¡No se los pierda y disfrútelos!
José Francisco Calvo Sendín is Professor of Ecology at Murcia University. We appreciate him a lot for the work he does in favour of the environment. Among many other activities, he has made several documentaries about the fauna and flora of the Region of Murcia, that he has kindly allowed us to publish them in different posts on this blog (see the links below).
José Francisco has visited our resort (he hopes to come again soon) to see in person the environment assets that more and more people with love and effort have spent years trying to spread (thanks John, Carlos, Silvia, Roger ...).
José Francisco has a website of great interest (http://fobos.inf.um.es/jfcalvo/) that we recommend visiting to any nature lover, in particular of Murcia. Through his website we have discovered José Francisco's YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/jfcalvo64/videos). It is spectacular. It includes a large number of short videos but recorded in high resolution, many in 4K. They are mainly about birds. If you like wildlife, be sure to watch these videos. You will be able to see, hear and learn to identify many birds present in Hacienda Riquelme and surroundings. Do not miss and enjoy them!

During these days of home isolation due to the Covid-19, we got a video that collects the songs of 15 different birds. As many of them are present in Hacienda Riquelme and surroundings, we are glad to write a post with this video.

Silvia es una muy querida vecina que ama la vida. Y no solo la de su familia, sus amigos y la suya. También la de las aves con las que convivimos en el resort. Por eso disfruta viendo como los gorriones comen las migas de pan que les deja en la terraza.
En los últimos días, Silvia está pletórica porque las golondrinas se han puesto a construir dos nidos en su apartamento. El proceso de construcción le resulta fascinante ¡La vida se abre camino!
Tal vez tenga que limpiar su terraza un poco más a menudo pero a cambio se librará de mosquitos sin recurrir a insecticidas. Enhorabuena Silvia por tu sensibilidad, amor y respeto por la naturaleza.
Silvia is a very dear neighbour who loves life. And not only that of her family, her friends and herself. Also that of the birds that live with us at the resort. That is why she enjoys watching the sparrows to eat the breadcrumbs that she leaves them on the terrace.
In the last few days, Silvia has been overjoyed because the swallows have started to build two nests in her apartment. The construction process is fascinating. Life makes its way!
She may need to clean her terraze a little more often but in return she will get rid of mosquitoes without needing insecticides. Congratulations Silvia for your sensitivity, love and respect for nature.

Bastantes de las aves que salen en él, se han visto también en Hacienda Riquelme y alrededores, igual que ocurría en el vídeo de la entrada España inexplorada.
Photographers of Doñana surroundings have made this video as a tribute to all the heroes who are fighting against Covid 19.
Quite a few of the birds that appear in it have also been watched in Hacienda Riquelme and nearby, just as it happened with the video in the post Unexplored Spain.

During the home isolation time because of the Covid-19, we have found in Vimeo this wonderful video, a part of it being filmed on the coast of Murcia. It is increasingly common to find on YouTube videos with images of Hacienda Riquelme shooted with drones. Often they are made by real estate agencies or owners who want to sell or rent apartments.

Our neighbour Mike, well known in Youtube as mickyzoom, has shot from a drone and mounted 18 short videos, each one about a hole of the golf course of Hacienda Riquelme. In addition, the staff of Ricardo Codorniu visitor center have kindly provided us with a lot of links extracted from Murcia Natural. You can use them to download many documents with useful information about this Regional Park. Most are in Spanish and some in English or German.

Another very important protected area located a few kilometres from Hacienda Riquelme is San Pedro del Pinatar Regional Park. Among other values, it has a spectacular ornithological richness. If you are interested in birds, this will be your favourite park in Murcia.

In this third installment of short help videos for identifying birds in Hacienda Riquelme we include the following:
House Martin
Whiskered Tern
Spotless Starling
Stone Curlew
House Martin, like Barn and Red-rumped Swallows, is a common resident bird in our resort.
Whiskered Tern, as Gull-billed Tern, can be seen flying over the lakes of the golf course in good numbers during summer.
Spotless Starling is another very common resident bird in Hacienda Riquelme.
The Stone Curlew will probably have been heard by residents during the night. But few have seen it. It is a mainly nocturnal bird and usually flies over the large lake at dusk. It rarely shows itself during the day because it likes to sit motionless and well camouflaged on the ground. In the United Kingdom it is a very rare bird. There are just 300-400 pairs in the whole country.
En esta tercera entrega de vídeos cortos para ayudar a la identificación de aves presentes en Hacienda Riquelme incluimos las siguientes:

Estornino negro y
Alcaraván común
El avión común, al igual que la golondrina común y la dáurica, es un ave residente y muy común en nuestro resort.
El fumarel cariblanco, como la pagaza piconegra, se deja ver en verano volando sobre los lagos del campo de golf en buen número.
El estornino negro es otra ave residente y muy frecuente en Hacienda Riquelme.
El alcaraván común seguramente habrá sido escuchado por cualquier residente durante la noche. Pero pocos le habrán visto. Es un ave principalmente nocturna que suele volar sobre al lago grande al anochecer. Raramente se dejan ver de día porque se sienta inmóvil y bien camuflada en el suelo. En el Reino Unido es un ave muy rara con apenas 300-400 parejas en todo el país.
